Senator Chris Brooks is a fourth generation Nevadan and a native of Las Vegas. Chris has more than 25 years of experience in the contracting, renewable energy, and utility industries. Chris created the first commercial solar company in Nevada, ran one of the largest solar EPC contractors in the country, and eventually became the Executive Vice President of a California ISO electric utility. Chris Brooks currently works as a consultant developing solar, wind, and storage projects across the west.

In 2016, Chris was elected to the Nevada State Assembly. As a freshman Assemblyman, Brooks authored and introduced legislation in the 79th Legislative Session that reformed net metering and restarted Nevada’s solar industry.

Chris currently represents Nevada’s Senate District 3. Senator Brooks served in the 80th and 81st Legislative Sessions, and the 31st, 32nd, and 33rd Special Sessions where he passed several high-profile bills including landmark legislation to double Nevada’s Renewable Portfolio Standard, reform the competitive energy market, change the structure of utility ratemaking, drastically cut Nevada’s Green House Gas emissions, electrify transportation, prevent wildfires, and build electricity transmission lines.

Senator Brooks was the Chair of the Senate Finance Committee and the Interim Finance Committee, Vice Chair of Senate Growth and Infrastructure Committee, served on Senate Natural Resources Committee, and was Co-Majority Whip.

Senator Brooks currently serves as the Chair of Nevada’s Regional Transmission Coordination Task Force, which was created by his omnibus energy bill, SB 448.
Chris currently lives in Downtown Las Vegas and is the proud father of three children and grandpa to two grandsons.
